What is a chiropractor?

A chiropractor is a primary healthcare professional involved in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of neuro-muscular problems. This can be anything to do with the joints, muscles or nerves of the body.

A Chiropractor has the ability to be able to detect if there are restrictions or stiffness in the joints of the body; predominantly the spine. If a joint is restricted, then the body via the surrounding muscles will compensate to try and protect the body. This results in the body not moving as well as it should be.

What can a chiropractor do?

Using their hands, a chiropractor can manipulate or modify a joint to get it moving once more. The manipulation is accomplished with a focused, fast thrust.

When a joint is moved or adjusted, you could hear a "pop" or "crack," which is the sound of gas bubbles popping in the joint fluid.

There is no cause for concern here.

What to expect during your visit

First visit

On your first visit to the clinic, we will take a detailed history from you, set some personal goals and perform a postural analysis and assessment of your body.

Second Visit

On your second visit, we'll provide you with a report of findings, detailing the results of your assessment. This includes what we've found, and where we can help. If we're able to provide you with help we'll create a structured and tailored plan for your needs.

Treatment

The chiropractic adjustments can start at the second visit, if you are happy to proceed with the structured plan. We'll always leave time for this.
